Within the last few years, the color green has taken on a whole new meaning. In 1948, it was a sign of alien-ness, as in “The Boy with Green Hair” (drama directed by Joseph Losey), where a prepubescent war orphan’s óddly green hair makes him a target for both ridicule and pity. Sometimes it was a sign of illness, as in “looking green” when someone had a bout of motion-sickness, or a bit of influenza.  It has also been considered a sign of lushness as in a rich looking beautifully manicured green lawn.  I’ve also referred to the slightly bitter smell of green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, green beans, green peppers, snow peas, sugar snap peas and the like as “smelling green.” I even include the smell of freshly mowed grass in that category! In any event, the word green has once more been reinvented.  It now encapsulates all the ecology-minded goals to save the worlds natural resources.  Remember Reuse, Reduce & Recycle?  Now it’s the Greening of America!

In our natural desire to be healthier, we now have finally focused on our environment: the Earth!  That isn’t to say that people have not been focused on such a worthy cause in the past - they certainly have.  Now, however, it appears to be chic to Go Green! Now there are more manufacturers making green claims on their product commercials, and it’s easy to obtain more eco-conscious items in your local grocery store.

Speaking of manufacturers and businesses, did you know that Amazon.com now has a green conscious section in it’s web site?  They call it…(wait for it) Amazon Green! What’s there, you ask? There are eco-friendly cleaning supplies, Energy Star qualified Office electronics and Energy Star qualified lighting.  Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?   (Click here)

Now what could be more convenient than that?
